Enjoy the best San Diego whale watching tour has to offer on board our fully equipped vessels. Each Blue Water Safari tour brings you up close and personal with the sea’s most wonderful species both above and below the Pacific Ocean. From looming blue whales to enigmatic molas (aka ocean sunfish), you can experience San Diego’s marine life like never before.
San Diego’s nutrient-filled waters offer a variety of wildlife year-round, and our professional captains know just where to go for the best viewing and photo opportunities. Whether it’s diving on kelp paddies in search of the world’s largest bony fish or experiencing the majesty of a baitball feeding frenzy first hand, a Blue Water Safari can create an incredible adventure just for you.
Operating out of Seaforth Marina San Diego, we carefully track weather reports and sea forecasts to provide maximum safety and comfort. If the weather gets too rough for your San Diego Bay boat tours or open-sea cruises, we’ll shift plans to keep you safe while still providing the most wildlife interactions possible.
Our experienced staff treats each San Diego snorkeling tour with a respect for the sea’s power and its untamed residents. Taking it slow and easy usually results in the richest dolphin observations and a snorkeling experience that makes every Blue Water Safari unforgettable.
As this trip is snorkeling/freedive only, no certification is required. We do require all those who choose to enter the water to have snorkeling experience. On request, Blue Water Safari can also offer inflatable paddle boards to those who may want to experience wildlife from the surface.
You can keep anything you need for your trip onto the boat, and we recommend locking anything you don’t need in your car. Your crew will guide you on best practices during your Blue Water Safari adventure.
We don’t provide snorkel gear, so we recommend bringing a 7mm wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, weight and weight belt.
Do I need a camera?
Cameras aren’t needed to enjoy this charter, but we highly recommend them. Most of our underwater encounters tend to focus on wide-angle photo opportunities, but we can focus in on any pelagic life you wish to encounter. Don’t forget to bring a topside camera if you want to capture jumping dolphins and whales — a Blue Water Safari moment worth remembering!
